The world can be a strange, disheartening, and stressful place to be sometimes, especially for young people. When it comes to mental health struggles, there is still a frustrating stigma around getting professional help. The desire to better yourself should never be loaded with the specter of shame. That said, there are some very understandable unease with looking for medical attention for issues that may lead to prolonged hospitalization. Most people, with good reason, don’t enjoy being in hospitals. Here at the Connections Wellness Group, we offer an alternative method that may sound more appealing to people in need of guidance.
Our Partial Hospitalization program, commonly known as PHP, combines an academic approach with the emotional needs of therapy. This type of care gives patients an array of services and opportunities to use on a daily basis. There are a few standards that every person involved in the program will experience: four hours of group therapy, extensive private schooling, psychiatric evaluations and nursing evaluations from trained professionals. But each step of that process will be catered to each individual’s needs. Our high-level clinicians are equally adept at several therapeutic styles, such as:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Solution Focused Therapy
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
- Cognitive Processing Therapy
- Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
Once the day is done, participants in this program (we currently serve minors 13 to 17 years old) will return to their homes and put the skills they’ve learned into practice before returning to the program the next day. This strategy, which has been audited and accredited by the Joint Commission, gives adolescents the ability to catch up, or even get a jump on schoolwork, while also addressing the symptoms of several mental health disorders, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, and self-harm. To understand what each youth requires from our medical team, we first offer a complimentary biopsychosocial assessment that looks through each component of the patient’s life to identify the best ways to treat, support, and assist with healing. Once the assessment is completed, the information is reviewed in collaboration with a psychiatrist, and a recommendation for next steps occurs only after each party agrees on the best path forward. PHP does accept many forms of insurance and in most instances, the insurance plans will cover this program completely. If money is a concern, our team provides free verification of benefits. Each of our therapeutic modalities are rooted in research and have been proven to be effective. We’ve lowered the barrier for entry as much as we can. Our team is full of expertise and empathy, but the first step lies with you. Everyone needs some help from time to time. Give yourself a chance. If you need help, or know someone who could benefit from PHP services, please get in touch with us via our contact page. We hope to hear from you.
