Accelerated therapy programs are designed to support patients who need more support beyond typical counseling sessions. An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is ideal for people who find that individual sessions with a therapist aren’t enough or for those who have recently completed a partial hospitalization program (PHP).
While not as demanding as a PHP, IOP participants still receive 3-4 hours of therapy per day, Monday through Friday. Reduced weekly schedule options are available. At the end of their IOP treatment, clients and clinical staff collaborate to assist the patient in the continuity of care while stepping down to individual counseling and/or medication management services. Typically, an IOP is a 4-6-week program.
The advantage of an accelerated outpatient program is flexibility. As you (or your loved one) improve and heal, you can transition into an IOP where you will continue to receive structured therapy and support, but also have more time to practice the coping skills and other lessons you have internalized. Eventually, as you continue to improve with support with these services, you may reach the point where occasional therapy sessions and medication management are all you need to sustain your best life.
Connections Wellness Group offers multiple locations. If you or a loved one require mental health services, call (877) 747-4294 or contact us online for more information about our mental health programs, including our intensive outpatient program.
