Intensive Outpatient Program

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is what many participants “graduate” to after finishing a partial hospitalization program. While not as demanding as a PHP, IOP participants still receive 3-4 hours of therapy per day Monday through Friday. At the end of their IOP treatment, clients and social services staff collaborate to assist the participant in stepping down to individual counseling and/or medication management services. Typically, an IOP is a 2-3 week program.

The advantage of an intensive outpatient program is flexibility. As you improve and heal, you can transition into an IOP where you will still receive structured therapy and support but also have more time to practice the coping skills and other lessons you have internalized. Eventually, as you continue to improve, you may reach the point where occasional therapy sessions and medication management are all you need to sustain your best life.

Connections Wellness Group offers multiple locations around the Dallas – Forth Worth metro area. If you or a loved one requires mental health services, call 940.360.4245 for more information about our mental health programs, including our intensive outpatient program.
