Getting Started with Telehealth Appointments

Long gone are the days of doctors performing house calls…or so we thought. In fact, getting top-notch, convenient care is easier now than ever before. You can talk with licensed, experienced medical professionals from the device you’re using right now.

So many aspects of life are stressful, but receiving help doesn’t have to be. In a traditional, in-person appointment there are many things that can complicate the experience. You might have trouble working it into your schedule, get stuck in traffic, or feel uncomfortable in an unfamiliar environment. All of these issues can be alleviated with the use of telehealth appointments. It’s normal to be hesitant if you haven’t used similar services before, as new experiences can often be confusing. Telehealth appointments are made and held through secure websites, and your care provider’s team is trained in telehealth technology. They are happy to help you with any concerns you may have about the specifics of accessing your appointment. Leading up to your appointment, you may want to prepare yourself, both physically and mentally. While telehealth allows you to receive care wherever you are comfortable, it’s important to get ready for the appointment ahead of time. Take a moment to consider the following:

  • What device will I use? Make sure you are familiar with the device you plan on using, and that it’s sufficiently charged before your appointment.
  • Where am I going to sit? Find a place where you feel comfortable, and consider preparing the area with things you may need during your appointment. This could be a glass of water, notes/documents, a blanket, or maybe even a furry friend.
  • What am I going to wear? Even though you might not be leaving the house, it can be useful preparation to get yourself ready as if you were going out. Take the time to go through your routines as much as possible.
  • What questions or concerns do I have? This may be the most important consideration before your appointment. In a traditional appointment, many people spend their time in the waiting room thinking over the things they want to discuss with their provider. As you physically prepare for your telehealth session, take a moment to prepare your mind as well.

Telehealth appointments are just another way that Connections Wellness Group is committed to providing you with the resources you need to live life to the fullest. We look forward to meeting with you!
