Biography

Hello there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background in trauma. Previously, I was a college dropout who then went into the military. I served six years as a combat medic in the US Army and was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. During my time in the military, I was exposed to a wide range of traumas, the worst of which, to me, was suicide. As a medic, it was my job to preserve life, and seeing my joes taking their lives due to the helplessness and hopelessness they were experiencing drove me into the mental health field. After my honorable discharge, I returned to school and finished my bachelors degree and then went on to get my masters degree and became licensed as a LMSW in January 2018. Since then I have worked primarily with the veteran and first responder communities of North Texas and upgraded my license to an LCSW in March of 2021. I am open to treating anyone who is struggling and requests my assistance, but my passion is helping m veteran and first responder brothers and sisters. In order to better help my clients, I have been trained in several trauma- specific therapy styles, including CPT and EMDR; and I am looking to become trained in other trauma-focused therapy styles. I also utilize mindfulness, CBT, REBT, and solution-focused therapy.

  • I have a son who is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and I am learning more about ASD every day.
  • I love baseball and golf. While my army injuries prevent me from playing baseball or softball anymore, I can still play golf and routinely shoot in the 90s.
  • I have a service dog named Dale who joins me in all of my sessions. He was trained here in Rockwall by Patriot Paws Service Dogs

Biography

Hi. I am Dale and I am Chris’s Service Dog. I was trained here in Rockwall by Patriot Paws and I am an accredited member of Assistance Dogs International. I chose to be Chris’s service dog when he went through the service dog training at Patriot Paws in the Summer of 2020. I have been with him ever since and I help him every day with his military injuries. Chris has also used me as a therapy dog when he provides therapy to his clients, and he has used me as a comfort dog when he has done critical incident debriefs with different police and fire departments. I do not know the meaning of the word “stranger,” as everyone is either a friend or a friend I have not yet met. I let people pet me and love on me, and Chris says that people like that and it helps them. I don’t know how it helps them, but I like it too so I let them do it.

  • My favorite toy is my squeaky frog Ribbit.
  • I am a “morning person,” and am most active before lunch. After lunch, I like to lay around and snooze.
  • I have severe separation anxiety when I cannot find Chris. People think it’s because I love him, but he’s the one who feeds me,
so I always need to know where my food supply is.
