Biography

Carmalita Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the Louisiana Board of Examiners for Counselors, and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. She has a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Her passion for helping others stem from witnessing the struggle of mental health up-close and personal. Carmalita’s method of counseling, for the most part, is an eclectic approach, because it draws upon multiple theoretical orientations and techniques to fit the client’s need(s). She has been afforded the opportunity to work with individuals, families, and groups of diversity and multicultural backgrounds. She practices Person Centered Therapy (PCT), as it promotes the building of healthy Client/Counselor relationships. She also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in that it teaches useful and practical strategies for daily life, and is great for addressing depression, anxiety, stress, abuse/trauma, as well as other mental health conditions. Carmalita is most happy with she is paying-it-forward.
