Blended Health Services’ Dr. Debra Atkisson Releases New Book, Master Your Storm: Insights of a Psychiatrist and Coach, to Help Readers Create Change in the New Year

New Book Helps Young Adults and Professionals Overcome Roadblocks and Invest in Themselves

DALLAS, Texas (Jan. 2, 2024)—With a new year on the horizon, the release of a new book, Master Your Storm: Insights of a Psychiatrist and Coach, is available to help individuals who want to make a shift and refresh their intentions to become better versions of themselves. Publicly released on Amazon January 2, 2024, the book is self-published by author Debra Atkisson, MD, PCC, Senior Vice President of clinical services for Blended Health Services. https://a.co/d/7yiqMF4 From teens working right out of high school to 40-something professionals looking to move toward new ventures, Master Your Storm is intended to help people who have experienced a major disruptive event or just want to evaluate their lives and make a significant change. The book includes information on focus areas, coping skills, mindfulness tips, relatable stories, follow-up resources and coaching-style questions designed to help readers learn more about themselves and develop a clearer path forward.

“People have more answers within themselves than they realize, but they need to be in a safe and secure place to figure out a plan to get on track,” said Dr. Atkisson. “I don’t want people to be held back by their self-limiting beliefs; I want to empower them to understand they are worth the time and effort it takes to rise over their self-imposed roadblock and invest in themselves.”

As both a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist and a professional certified coach, Dr. Atkisson pulled from multiple lenses to write this book. With more than 30 years of experience working with adolescents, medical students, teachers, business professionals and more, she developed this simplistic, practical guide to help others create and enact their plans for the
future.

“Everyone will face some sort of storm in their lifetime. During my last year of clinical training, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which led to surgery and chemotherapy. I understand how traumatic experiences like this can knock you off balance. I had to face it, dig in, and focus on putting one foot in front of the other to become the healthiest I could be. Going through my own personal storm set the foundation for this guide,” said Dr. Atkisson.
Dr. Atkisson said that her past few years working with Blended Health and its behavioral health services provider, Connections Wellness Group (CWG), also helped her grow more broadly in the ways she is able to help people. She believes this guide parallels much of her work within the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-focused curriculum at CWG, as the content
encourages readers to accept where they are and commit to a change to get better faster.
“Dr. Atkisson’s dedication to her field and our community is evident not only in her leadership, but also in her personal commitment to empowering others. Her achievement in authoring a book in her personal time underscores her passion for helping individuals overcome life’s challenges to reach their goals—an inspiration to all of us at Connections Wellness Group and Blended Health,” said Blended Health CEO Jennifer Miraglia.
