Biography

When I was going through the BSN program at Medical University South Carolina, and had started the various clinical rotations, I realized I did not enjoy med-surg as much as I thought I would. When I got into the community nursing and psychiatric/mental health nursing clinicals, I quickly discovered that I had finally found my niche! Once in the DNP program at Rush University, I found myself gravitating towards specializing in the treatment of patients with substance use disorders, eating disorders, and personality disorders. There are so many unseen layers in patients struggling with these disorders, and while there are no quick and easy fixes, getting to know these people and how they got to where they are in their treatment journeys, and getting to be a part of their journeys is very rewarding! I also have experience working in the federal prison system and am a veteran of the US Public Health Service.

• I have kids in college, high school, and elementary school, and I adore them all!
• I really, really enjoy stand up paddle boarding!
• I grew up overseas and went to high schools in 3 different countries!
