Becky Spencer has over 28 years of experience in nursing practice with pediatric, neonatal, and maternity populations, is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and holds a certification in Perinatal Mental Health. Becky became a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner because of the need for evidence-based mental health care for families during the perinatal period spanning from pregnancy planning, pregnancy, birth, through postpartum. The birth of a child is a life-changing experience for the mother/birthing parent and whole family, and is also a time when attending to mental health needs must be a priority. If feelings of exhaustion, anxiety, and sadness are overwhelming, you may be experiencing a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder and Connections Wellness Group has the treatment, support, and care to help through this life transition. Becky believes wholeheartedly in the motto of Postpartum Support International, “You are not alone. You are not to blame. With help, you will recover.”

Becky is board certified to provide both medication management and therapy.

Becky is also an Associate Clinical Professor at Texas Woman’s University in the College of Nursing and an editor and author of The Core Curriculum for Interdisciplinary Lactation Care, and Breastfeeding and Human Lactation, 6th ed. In her spare time, Becky is adjusting to an empty nest and enjoys traveling and long walks with her husband and dogs.
